Operational work within the entertainment industry has shown us that the deterrent value of a drug detection dog working such premises can reduce the use of drugs by as much as 80%. The handler will sweep the premises with the a pro-active dog to insure the area is free from concealed drugs. Then the passive dog will be utilized on the point of entry to search persons entering the premises. These dogs work on the lead and are trained, on detection of illegal substances, to sit ( passive response ). The dog makes no contact with the person carrying the drugs.
